1. What does Multy mean
"Multy" is short for "Multiply" as in "Multy WiFi Performance. Multiply WiFi Speed. Multiply WiFi Range"
2. What is Multy Pro?
Multy Pro is a Mesh-powered, Intelligent WiFi System of products for service providers to deploy whole-home managed WiFi services quickly and profitably.
3. What is MeshIQ
MeshIQ is the intelligent WiFi software built in to Zyxel Multy Pro gateways and WiFi extenders with the following features:
- Auto-configuration
- Single WiFi network covering both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands
- Band steering
- Seamless client roaming
- Exceptional quality of experience (QoE)
4. Does Zyxel Managed WiFi system or Multy Pro form a single WiFi network?
Yes. When Multy Pro functionality is enabled, it will form a single WiFi network spanning
- Both frequency bands (2.4GHz and 5Ghz)
- Zyxel RG and WiFi Extenders
5. What Zyxel models will be supported by Multy Pro
At launch, Multy Pro will be supported on the VMG4825 and EMG3425. Zyxel is also introducing the AC2050 WiFi Extender - WAP6804 as part of the Multy Pro ecosystem.
6. How much does Multy Pro cost?
Multy Pro for VMG4825 and EMG3425 will be available as "FREE" software upgrade.
7. Do you need Zyxel RG for whole home wifi?
Yes. The Zyxel RG serves as a central WiFi controller for the Multy Pro Whole-Home WiFi System.
8. What WiFi Extenders does Zyxel have?
The WAP6804 AC2050, dual-band WiFi extender, has 4x4 antenna configuration on 5GHz and 2x2 configuration on 2.4GHz.
9. How many WiFi Extenders can be connected to Multy Pro network?
Multy Pro works for up to 3 WiFi Extenders
10. Do I need WiFi extenders to take advantage of Multy Pro functionality?
NO. Multy Pro powers the RGs (EMG3425 and VMG4825) with several intelligent features to make them a valuable upgrade without any WiFi Extenders.
Multy Pro enabled RGs create a single primary network across both 2.4 and 5GHz radios by default. This simplifies WiFi networking for all users. Multy Pro performs Band Steering – automatically assigning clients to the 2.4 and 5GHz networks. So end-users don’t have to worry about which network to connect to. Adding Zyxel WiFi extenders in the future becomes a self-install upgrade for the subscribers.
Multy Pro is a free upgrade to the future - for simple, powerful WiFi.
11. Multy Pro needs a single WiFi network - but can I still have multiple SSIDs?
12. If the Multy Pro gateway is set up for multiple SSID’s instead of one, will band steering still operate?
Yes. Even in of additional SSIDs, the Multy Pro Gateway and Extenders will continue to support Band Steering and Client or AP steering (roaming) on the primary WiFi network (SSID).
13. Will Zyxel managed WiFi system work with Extenders from other vendors?
No. Zyxel's Managed WiFi System is a combination of a WiFi Controller inside Zyxel gateways and WiFi client software inside Zyxel Extenders.
14. Can I enable Multy Pro and still have a seperate SSID for IPTV Video streaming?
15. Isn't is just easier to have customers buy their own WiFi system?
We don't believe so. They will still call service providers with complaints regarding WiFi related issues. And carriers will lose a lucrative revenue stream and insights into customers' home network and behavior, which is important to keeping them long term.
16. What changes can end-users make to the RG and Network using the Multy Pro Mobile App?
The mobile app will not let end-users change any information that will adversely affect the performance of the RG or network. End users can change the following

- Restart the RG
- Enable Guest WiFi
- Allow, Block Internet Access to various WiFi clients
- Add WiFi Extenders
17. How do I get Multy Pro if I’m an existing customer already using either EMG3425 or VMG4825?

18. How do I get Multy Pro if I’m new customer considering deploying Multy Pro enabled VMG4825 or EMG3425 along with Zyxel WiFi Extender – WAP6804?
Newer releases of VMG4825 and EMG3425 come with Multy Pro intelligence built-in and ready for deployment. The belly-label on the device will confirm Multy Pro capability. This also means that the RG will by default, have a single SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks for the primary WiFi network.
The WAP6804 comes ready with Multy Pro enabled.
19. How do I get Multy Pro if I’m an existing customer of EMG3425 or VMG4825 who uses custom configuration flashed on to the devices?
Operators using custom configuration will have to upgrade the RG (VMG4825 and EMG3425) with the Multy Pro firmware. They also have the option to create a new Rom-D if they wish to have Multy Pro pre-installed on their shipping devices. Please contact sales or multypro@zyxel.com for details.
Important Note: Once Multy Pro is enabled, the RG will reconfigure to single SSID for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. For user convenience, Multy Pro takes the SSID and password of the existing 2.4GHz band. This will ensure that all the WiFi clients with 2.4GHz WiFi credentials stored will be able to seamlessly connect to the new WiFi network. Only the devices that were exclusively connected to the old 5GHz network will need to be re-connected to the new WiFi network. Once all WiFi devices are connected to the Multy Pro’s single SSID WiFi network – they will be automatically assigned to the appropriate radio using MeshIQ intelligent Band Steering for a high performance, optimized whole-home WiFi network.
