A state-of-the-art choice for Gigabit broadband services

The new Zyxel GES2104 Series of 4-port Environmental-Hardened G.fast DPU supports G.fast technology to meet higher speed demands from new applications such as 4K TV, VR and more. With the G.fast technology, the existing copper line (twisted-pair or coaxial) infrastructure is no longer an out-of-date issue. Operators don’t need to fully renovate the current infrastructure for real Gigabit speed or faster rollout. The GES2104 Series complies with G.9700 and G.9701 to support up to 1 Gbps speed in short loop and 500 Mbps in distances over 250m. The GES2104 Series not only supports G.fast technology with 106b profile, but also co-exists with VDSL to fit more subscriber needs.

Environmental robustness for various network deployments

The Zyxel’s GES2104 Series G.fast DPU is suitable for different scenarios thanks to its environmental-hardened design. The GES2104 Series can be installed on the walls, in small outdoor cabinets or even in basements. In addition, it comes with a coaxial user network interface variant for cable service providers to adapt to fiber networks.

Offline Management by PMA in G.fast infrastructure

As a G.fast series product, the Zyxel GES2104 Series supports Persistent Management Agent (PMA) to manage the DPU through the NetAtlas EMS. In a generic EMS design, the DPU needs to be online in order to perform configuration and to fix alarms. With a PMA server, the perator is able to pre-set configurations and save the profile on the PMA server. Therefore, with DPU powered on or not, the service provider can still execute all management functions via EMS.

RPF makes G.fast deployments faster, cheaper

The Zyxel GES2104 Series can be powered by AC local power or Reverse Power Feeding (RPF), and that means the GES2104 Series can be powered by CPE. Moreover, the GES2104 Series supports power-load-sharing; when multiple users connect to the GES2104, power consumption of the DPU can be distributed equally to all users.

Comprehensive OAM&P features for optimized manageability

The Zyxel GES2104 Series provides various management methods such as a local console port, Telnet and SNMP v1/v2/v3-based EMS (NetAtlas EMS). The management functions include alarm and status surveillance, configuration management, performance management and fault management. The Series allows multiple administrative accounts with 3-level access privileges, while NetAtlas EMS also provides view-based MIB management with which partial MIB objects can be defined and accessed for customization and security reasons. In addition, cluster management enables multiple MSAN administration sessions through a single/master IP address, while XML-based northbound interface is also provided to interoperate with external OSS systems.
